Behold – The Celsius X VI II Papillon – the world’s first entirely mechanical mobile phone.
The handset, which takes its design inspiration from the visible automatic movements of top-end wrist-watches, is due to be unveiled next week at the BaselWorld watch fair in Switzerland.

Constructed from 547 components — the majority of which are hand-finished — the Papillon (French for “butterfly”) is arguably one of the most exquisite mobiles made yet.

Like all good Swiss watches the clam shell handset is self-powering, relying on the kinetic energy created by the movements of the human body.

At present the Papillon is just a concept, but if you’re feeling flush the asking price for this is a stately €200,000 (£180,000) .

Mobiado has launched a new phone called Classic 712GCB, which is a variant of their existing Classic 712ZAF model.

The Classic 712GCB combines gold, sapphire crystal, and stainless steel to create new standard in luxury. The frame is CNC machined from brass, hand polished, and then plated with thick layer of gold. Large sapphire crystal plates are hand painted with gold lettering and precision inset into the gold body. The keypad buttons are ground from sapphire crystal and hand painted from beneath with gold. The iconic Mobiado logo is precision CNC machine engraved into the body to bestow a final touch of elegance. Gresso is out with another luxurious device. It’s the red “version” of their Grand Monaco phone, which was unveiled in August 2009.

Specs wise, the device keeps its low-to-mid end “charm,” boasting a 2-megapixel camera, EDGE data, Bluetooth, FM radio and a microSD memory card slot. But, as you know, Gresso’s products are not about technical details. The company’s strength lays in the ability to entice rich folks who don’t like all the fuss surrounding modern smartphones to pour out a couple of thousand bucks (or Euros) for a not-that-powerful yet great lookin’ feature phone.

In that sense, the Grand Monaco Red series comes with titanium casing with high-tech ceramics and a steel keypad. Moreover, a hand polished sapphire crystal glass is used to protect the screen from any scratches, whereas red-colored alligator skin adorns the back.

Designed for strong, self-confident women of good taste, Gresso’s latest piece of jewelry could be yours for 1800 EUR, which is about $2443.

The handset pictured is apparently a luxury item, made by Canadian company Mobiado and meant to reach the pockets of the few lucky rich folks out there. Dubbed Mobiado 712ZAF, the device comes with a pretty decent list of specifications, available after the break.

Considered a successor to the Luminoso model, this phone sports a 2.2 inch QVGA display, AGPS, a 5 megapixel camera with flash and a dynamic noise reduction system based on two mics. As far as connectivity is concerned, you get quadband EDGE plus UMTS 900/1900/2100.

No info on the price or launch date, but what we do know is that the handset comes with an aluminum frame, surrounded by a ceramic coat. The latter should be available in your choice of six colors.
