Papillon – The World’s First Mechanical Mobile

Behold – The Celsius X VI II Papillon – the world’s first entirely mechanical mobile phone.
The handset, which takes its design inspiration from the visible automatic movements of top-end wrist-watches, is due to be unveiled next week at the BaselWorld watch fair in Switzerland.

Constructed from 547 components — the majority of which are hand-finished — the Papillon (French for “butterfly”) is arguably one of the most exquisite mobiles made yet.

Like all good Swiss watches the clam shell handset is self-powering, relying on the kinetic energy created by the movements of the human body.

At present the Papillon is just a concept, but if you’re feeling flush the asking price for this is a stately €200,000 (£180,000) .

Gresso’s Grand Monaco Red is made for ladies, costs 1800 EUR

Gresso is out with another luxurious device. It’s the red “version” of their Grand Monaco phone, which was unveiled in August 2009.

Specs wise, the device keeps its low-to-mid end “charm,” boasting a 2-megapixel camera, EDGE data, Bluetooth, FM radio and a microSD memory card slot. But, as you know, Gresso’s products are not about technical details. The company’s strength lays in the ability to entice rich folks who don’t like all the fuss surrounding modern smartphones to pour out a couple of thousand bucks (or Euros) for a not-that-powerful yet great lookin’ feature phone.

In that sense, the Grand Monaco Red series comes with titanium casing with high-tech ceramics and a steel keypad. Moreover, a hand polished sapphire crystal glass is used to protect the screen from any scratches, whereas red-colored alligator skin adorns the back.

Designed for strong, self-confident women of good taste, Gresso’s latest piece of jewelry could be yours for 1800 EUR, which is about $2443.

Nokia Announce N97 Mini Gold Edition

Sensitive to people’s ever-changing needs and clearly aware of the recessional return to a gold-standard in investment, Nokia have issued a Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition.

The N97 mini Gold Edition is swathed in 18-carat gold and comes pre-loaded with apps like “ELLE 360Fashion”, which should help couture lovers stay up to date with all the latest trends and fashion-related news.

Other than that, the Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition has the same features the regular edition includes: 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, HSPA, GPS, Nokia Maps, 3.5mm headset jack, 8GB of internal memory, and a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

In terms of user experience, there’s little between the N97 Mini UI and a basic smart phone like the Nokia 5800, however after a recent review of the handset the N97 mini proved itself as a truly delicious bit of hardware: the tilted pull-out QWERTY is one of the best in the business!

Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition will be available across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, when exactly we’re not so sure.
