Russian President Dmitry Medvedev loves LG’s Watch Phone

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has been seen in public wearing the LG-GD910 Watch Phone, the world’s first 3G quad-band watch phone made by LG Electronics. Medvedev has been spotted wearing the Watch Phone on several occasions, including a recent meeting on economic advancement at Moscow State University, and a visit to the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow to attend a meeting on climate change on Dec. 14, 2009.

Shaped like a wrist watch, the LG-GD910 Watch Phone features a 1.43-inch touch-screen, half the size of the screen of normal phones. Unlike most cell phones, the screen can be viewed when the LCD is off if there is external light. LG-GD910 Watch Phone is the first touch watch phone in the world to feature 7.2 Mbps 3G HSDPA compatibility, enabling high-speed data transmission and video phone calls using the built-in camera.

Samsung shows the S9110 Limited Edition watchphone at the Millionaire Fair 2009

samsung_s9110

At the Millionaire Fair 2009 in Netherlands, Samsung unveiled the S9110 watch phone limited edition that will have only 100 units up for sale. Specs-wise, it remains unchanged but the user will get a numbered unit, a bluetooth headset and handmade watch box. The limited edition will sell for 999 euros.

The Samsung S9110 of course has a self-evidently small, 1.76-inch display, but it is a touch-screen type and is provided with a coating so that the exclusive Watchphone is scratch- and dirt resistant. The Samsung S9110 has an amazing amount of features, such as Bluetooth support, an MP3 player, 40 MB internal memory, voice recognition and Outlook sync.

InPulse Smartwatch for Blackberry becomes official

BlackBerry-InPulse

The inPulse Smartwatch for BlackBerry is being produced by Allerta, and now that it’s official, we can safely say that it’ll rely on Bluetooth in order to bring incoming emails, text messages and other alerts from your handset to your wrist (or your ankle, if you roll like that). As for specs, you’re looking at a 1.3-inch OLED display, glass lens, full metal body, vibrating motor, microUSB port and a rechargeable battery that’s good for around four days of “normal use.” inPulse users will have to install a special BlackBerry application in order to pass along information, but those hoping to use their watch to actually send messages will be sorely disappointed. It’s up for pre-order now at $149, and if all goes well, the first ones will ship out in February.

You Have Smartphones? Here’s a Smartwatch

ellipse_watch

The E’llipse Traveler is a watch to end all watches. Why? Because it has a fancy processor and the latest algorithms in human-machine learning. Yes it learns you! It knows what you want and keeps you up to date. That’s not all. ZigBee and Bluetooth modules enable indoor localization, an impossible feat for GPS. The UI is based on widgets – one for every kind; time, weather, calendar and a custom API lets developers get creative.

Kemplar & Strauss’ watch phone is apparently the world’s smallest

Wphonewatch

Kempler & Strauss’s WPhone is certainly not the world’s first wristwatch phone, but strives to the world’s smallest one. It comes with a touchscreen display, 4 gigs worth of onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a Bluetooth Communicator handsfree and quad-band GSM connectivity.

By now you should have seen the LG GD910 wristwatch phone. It wasn’t the smallest thingy around, but it was still capable of making 3G video calls.

While we are waiting for more details on the Samsung S9110 – the direct competitor of the LG’s watch phone, Kempler & Strauss presented their WPhone.

The WPhone resembles the S9110, but is more compact with some serious 4GB onboard storage, which is even expandable via a microSD slot. The WPhone does not have 3G needed for doing video calls, but has VGA camera just in case.

The Kempler & Strauss WPhone package includes their stylish Bluetooth headset – the Communicator – which is specially designed for the WPhone.

The WPhone is smaller than its competitors and this might turn the deal-seal along with its 199 US dollars price.
